ZESCO United Bolsters Squad with Four Major Signings Ahead of 2025/26 Season

ZESCO United Football Club has officially unveiled four new signings as part of its ambitious preparations for the 2025/26 MTN Super League and the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup campaigns.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the nine-time Zambian champions confirmed the arrivals of Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, Kabaso Chongo, Alaekwe Chijioke, and Ifoni Pepo, all on two-year contracts.
Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, 28, makes a return to ZESCO United following a stint with Libyan Premier League side Al-Madina SC. The Zambian international midfielder is expected to add creativity and leadership in the middle of the park.

Also joining the Ndola giants is Kabaso Chongo, a 32-year-old seasoned defender, who arrives from Kabwe Warriors. With years of domestic and international experience under his belt, Chongo brings much-needed stability and depth to the defensive line.

The club has further strengthened its attacking department with the signing of Alaekwe Chijioke, a 27-year-old Nigerian striker formerly with Akwa United in the Nigerian Premier League. Chijioke is known for his clinical finishing and physical presence in the box.

Completing the quartet is fellow Nigerian Ifoni Pepo, a 25-year-old pacey winger from Oman’s Sur SC. Pepo is expected to provide width, flair, and additional goal-scoring options.

“These new additions are expected to make an immediate impact, strengthening the squad and enhancing the team’s performance in the upcoming season,” said Verita Muyunda, ZESCO United’s Media and Public Relations Officer.

The reinforcements come as ZESCO United aims to reclaim domestic glory and make a strong impression on the continental stage. The club’s preseason preparations are already underway, with the team focused on gelling the new signings into its system ahead of the league’s kickoff next month.
