Zambia’s COSAFA Cup 2025 Campaign Kicks Off June 6 Against Comoros

Zambia’s national football team, the Chipolopolo, will begin their quest for an eighth regional crown when they face Comoros in their opening Group D match at the 2025 HOLLYWOODBETS COSAFA Cup on Friday, June 6 at 18h00 CAT. The game will be played at the historic Toyota Stadium in Mangaung | Bloemfontein, South Africa.
Zambia, the most decorated team in the history of the COSAFA Cup with seven titles, find themselves in Group D alongside Comoros and Botswana. Only the top team in the group advances to the semifinals, putting added pressure on every fixture.

With only two matches to determine group supremacy, Zambia will need a strong start and consistent performances. Zambia is expected to deploy a squad that blends seasoned players with promising youth talent, aiming to recapture the title they last won in 2019.
The tournament will open on June 4 with Group A action as Zimbabwe face Mauritius at 15h00 CAT, followed by South Africa hosting Mozambique at 18h00 CAT, a repeat of their 2024 opener.
Zambia’s matches are scheduled across both the Toyota Stadium, a 2010 FIFA World Cup venue, and the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium, home to South African club Marumo Gallants.
The group stages run until June 11, with the semifinals set for June 13. The winner of Group D will face the winner of Group A. The final will be contested on Sunday, June 15 at 15h00 CAT at the Toyota Stadium.
