Zambian Swimmers Head to Angola for Invitational Championship

A team of four promising Zambian swimmers has departed for Luanda, Angola, to compete in an Invitational Swimming Competition held as part of Angola’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations.
The squad, comprising Joanna Coates, Sianne Wilson, Mwenya Mulenga, and Mudenda Syamujeye, was officially waved off yesterday by the Zambia Swimming Union. The team is under the leadership of Mrs. Janine Wilson, who is serving as both team manager and technical official.
In a show of regional solidarity, Zambia’s participation has been fully sponsored by the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Angola, the Angola Swimming Federation, and TAAG Airlines.
“This morning we waved off a select team of four swimmers,” the Zambia Swimming Union posted. “Our participation in this event is generously sponsored… we wish our team all the best at the championships.”
The Luanda invitational presents a unique platform for the young swimmers to showcase their talent on an international stage and gain valuable experience against top competition from around the continent. It also strengthens sporting ties between Zambia and Angola.
