Zambia to Host 2025 Continental Baseball5 Championship

Zambia has officially been awarded the hosting rights for the Continental Baseball5 Championship, set to take place from November 5–8, 2025, at the OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre in Lusaka.

The announcement, made by the World Baseball Softball Confederation Africa (WBSC Africa), marks a historic milestone for Zambia and a major boost for the development of baseball and softball in the country. The championship will gather elite Baseball5 teams from across the continent to compete for top honors and potential qualification to global tournaments.

Baseball5, a dynamic, fast-paced, and youth-friendly format of the game, has gained popularity in recent years, particularly as a platform for youth development and inclusion. Zambia’s successful bid underscores the country’s growing commitment to sports development and its increasing profile on the continental stage.

“This is a proud moment for our country,” said Kenny Matishi, President of the Zambia Baseball Softball Association (ZBSA). “Hosting the Continental Baseball5 Championship is not just about sport—it’s about uniting youth, promoting health, and showcasing Zambia’s potential as a regional sports hub.”

The tournament will be hosted at the newly upgraded facilities at OYDC Zambia, with accommodation and meals for visiting teams and officials to be provided on-site to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience.

Preparations are already in motion, with local organizing committees, volunteers, and stakeholders working collaboratively to deliver a high-quality international event. The championship is expected to draw significant attention from across Africa and beyond, offering Zambian athletes a rare opportunity to shine on home soil.
