Zambia Hockey Appeals for Urgent Support Ahead of Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt

The Zambia Hockey Association (ZHA) has issued an urgent appeal for financial assistance to ensure the men’s and women’s national teams travel to Egypt for the upcoming Hockey Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to begin on 11th October 2025 in Ismailia.
In an official statement, ZHA General Secretary Elvis Bwalya confirmed that while the Ministry of Sport has approved facilitation for flights, the association has been informed that accommodation costs must be paid upfront before tickets can be issued.
“With the team scheduled to depart today, 9th October, and our first match set for 11th October against defending champions South Africa, we are urgently seeking to raise K500,000 to cover the required accommodation payments and secure the team’s travel arrangements,” the statement reads.
The association has already secured visas, insurance, playing kits, tracksuits, and participation fees. However, accommodation remains the key hurdle.
ZHA says it continues to engage the Ministry of Sport and the National Sports Council of Zambia for support while appealing to the corporate sector and well-wishers to assist financially.
“We remain hopeful that, with collective effort, our national teams will proudly represent Zambia at this prestigious continental event,” Bwalya said.
