Sydney Siame Pledges to Champion Athletes’ Welfare as New Zambia Athletics Chairperson

Newly appointed Zambia Athletics Athletes’ Chairperson Sydney Siame says he wants to use his position to enhance the welfare of athletes in the country.

The Olympian also expressed gratitude to Zambia Athletics for appointing him to the Athlete Commission position, adding that he will work closely with the athletes, who are the core of the sport.

“It is with immense gratitude and deep honour that I extend my heartfelt thanks to all the members, supporters, and partners of Zambia Athletics. As the newly appointed Chairperson of the Athlete Commission, I am both humbled and excited for the opportunity to serve our vibrant athletics community,” Siame said in a Facebook post.

“First, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Zambia Athletics Federation for entrusting me with this responsibility. I also extend my thanks to my fellow commissioners and athletes who have placed their confidence in me to represent our collective voice. I understand the significance of this role and commit to working tirelessly to ensure the interests, welfare, and growth of all our athletes are at the forefront of every decision we make.”

The 2014 gold medallist at the Nanjing Youth Olympics has vowed to be the voice of the athletes.
Siame believes that this will help to create an environment that allows Zambian athletes to compete favourably both locally and on the international stage.

It is your dedication, passion, and perseverance that continue to inspire us all to push boundaries and strive for excellence.
