Power Dynamos Ready for Hostile Abidjan Atmosphere, Says Muwowo

Power Dynamos winger Austin Muwowo says the Zambian champions are fully prepared for the challenging atmosphere they expect in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, when they face ASEC Mimosa in the second leg of the CAF Champions League first preliminary round on Sunday.

The Kitwe side carries a 1-0 advantage from last Saturday’s first leg at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium but know they face a tough test away from home.

“We prepared accordingly because this is a once-in-a-while chance and we definitely just have to work hard,” Muwowo said. “We’ve been planning very well, and I think we’re ready to face them. I’m sure we’re going to get the result.”

Muwowo acknowledged the narrow lead but insisted it gives the team something to build on: “Yes, it’s a bit slender, but at least it’s somewhere to start from. We just have to work because we do have a lead—we can protect it and then add more.”

He outlined their defensive strategy to withstand early pressure: “As far as I’m concerned, if we can stand up to like 45 minutes or less, I’m sure they’re going to come in the first minutes of the game. If we can balance that and stop their attacks, we can definitely have a chance to score.”

Muwowo also dismissed any psychological tactics ASEC might deploy: “They can play mind games, but we are ready for that. We’re ready for everything. It’s nothing to concentrate on—we just have to move forward and focus on what we want.”

Power Dynamos are aiming to reach the next round of the competition as they continue their quest for continental glory.
