OQBP UNVEILS K1.1 MILLION BUDGET FOR DECEMBER INTERNATIONAL BOXING SHOWDOWN

Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions (OQBP) has announced a K1,123,600 budget for its upcoming International Boxing Tournament scheduled for 27th December 2025 at the Government Complex in Lusaka.

Promoter and manager Christopher Malunga said the significant investment underscores OQBP’s commitment to developing Zambian boxing and staging events that meet world-class standards.

“This budget reflects our dedication to promoting local talent while bringing international exposure to Zambian boxing. We are grateful to the Government, through the Ministry of Sport, and to our sponsors for making this possible,” Malunga said in a statement.

The marquee event will see David “Snipper” Mwale, Zambia’s reigning WBC International Bantamweight Champion, defend his title for the first time against South Africa’s Charlton Malajika, who boasts an impressive 8–1 record.

The main bout will be backed by seven undercard fights, including four international clashes featuring boxers from Malawi and Zimbabwe, and three local bouts showcasing some of Zambia’s rising stars. Among the highlights are Remmy Simbeye vs. Collen Zidumbu in a 12-round lightweight duel and Gracious Malembeka vs. Loveness Kokha in a bantamweight contest.

The December showdown is expected to draw significant attention from boxing fans across the region, with OQBP confident the financial backing will ensure top-tier production and competitive matchups.

Malunga added that the tournament aims to elevate Zambia’s standing on the international boxing scene while offering local fighters the chance to prove themselves on a larger stage.

The winner of Mwale’s title defense could gain momentum toward a future world title shot, making the fight a crucial step in Zambia’s boxing ambitions.
