Mweemba Mourns Former Chipolopolo Striker Tapson Kaseba

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has joined the sports fraternity in mourning the death of former Chipolopolo striker Tapson Kaseba, who passed away on Wednesday at the University Teaching Hospital after an illness.
FAZ president Keith Mweemba expressed his deep shock at the news, describing Kaseba as a gifted forward whose contributions to Zambian football will not be forgotten.
“We are saddened by the death of Tapson Kaseba whom we knew as a former national team player and many clubs in our league. Our thoughts are with his family,” said Mweemba.
Kaseba rose to prominence as the top scorer at the 2019 COSAFA Championship, where his decisive goal in the final against Botswana secured Zambia’s fifth regional crown and their first since 2013. His strike in the 78th minute at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium sealed a hard-fought 1-0 victory, etching his name into the nation’s football history.
At club level, Kaseba featured for Green Eagles, Napsa Stars, Kansanshi Dynamos, and Konkola Blades, leaving an indelible mark at each stop.
Mweemba noted that Zambian football had been robbed of a star whose talent and determination inspired many.
The late striker’s contributions on both domestic and international stages will remain a lasting legacy of his commitment to the game.
