Mweemba Commends FIFA for Supporting Football Professionalisation in Zambia

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Keith Mweemba has hailed FIFA for its continued support in strengthening football management structures and promoting professionalism within the local game.
Speaking during the FIFA Professionalisation and Management Workshop this morning at Protea Hotel in Ndola, Mweemba described the event as a landmark moment for Zambian football, bringing together administrators, club representatives, and football experts to enhance their management capacity.
“I am extremely delighted to be part of this historic event that brings together great football minds in one place,” Mweemba said. “We are grateful to FIFA for walking with us on this leadership journey. Today, we take another step forward, hand in hand with FIFA, to open a new chapter in our game.”
The FAZ president emphasized that the workshop—covering key areas such as strategic planning, governance, finance, club licensing, commercialisation, and marketing—comes at a crucial time when Zambian clubs are working to meet the standards set by CAF and FIFA.
“The high bar set by FIFA requires that we elevate our knowledge to match global standards,” Mweemba noted. “We must reach a point where our clubs are not only striving to score on the pitch, but also off it through strong management and income generation.”
Mweemba expressed gratitude to the FIFA delegation, including Head of Development Programmes Solomon Mudege and Regional Office Lead David Fani, for their commitment to Zambia’s football development.
He also thanked the FAZ and ZPL secretariat teams for their efforts in organizing the workshop, urging all participants to make the most of the learning opportunity.
“Let us take this opportunity with both hands and help take our game to the next level,” Mweemba concluded.
