Mufulira Wanderers Confirm Coaching Changes as Lameck Banda Takes the Helm

Mufulira Wanderers Football Club has confirmed the appointment of Lameck Banda in a swift transition aimed at reinvigorating the club’s strategic direction.
In a statement released on June 23rd, the club announced a mutual agreement to part ways with Coach Tenant Chilumba, effective 13th June 2025. The decision followed internal consultations involving Chilumba’s representative, Mr. Nawa Nyambe, and club leadership. Though Chilumba had submitted his resignation, the club noted that the separation was amicable and intended to preserve unity and progress.
Chilumba, who joined the legendary Zambian club in October 2024, was commended for his contribution to the team. “We acknowledge and appreciate his contribution during his time with the club and wish him nothing but success in his future coaching endeavors,” the statement read. Just a day later, on June 24th, the club officially unveiled Coach Lameck Banda as the new Head Coach on a three-year contract. Banda, a respected tactician in the Zambian league, brings with him a decorated resume, including leading FC MUZA to a second-place Super League finish in the 2022-23 season and a CAF Confederation Cup qualification. He also guided the team to an ABSA Cup final appearance in the same campaign.
Joining him at Wanderers is his long-time assistant, Bupe Chewe, as the duo looks to kick off a new era at the club. Club officials hinted at imminent player signings to bolster the squad ahead of the coming season.
“The coaching duo is ready to start work,” the club said, emphasizing their commitment to youth development and long-term competitiveness.
