Make Us Proud, The Nation is Watching – Mweemba Tells Copper Princesses

By FAZ
FAZ president Keith Mweemba has rallied the Copper Princesses with a stirring call ahead of their COSAFA U17 Girls’ Championship Group B fixture against Mauritius set for 12h00 CAT at Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek.
Addressing the team via a telephone call, Mweemba encouraged the girls to maintain discipline, unity and focus as they don the national colours on regional duty.
“I should take this opportunity just to encourage you, let’s work very hard, let’s maintain the discipline, teamwork and take responsibility,” Mweemba told the players.
“You are playing for the nation and as your new FAZ president, I am encouraging all of you to work very hard, listen to your coaches and let’s win the trophy for the country and then you will come properly with the trophy and then we will see how we can talk further.”
Mweemba further stressed the importance of a new mindset and moving forward as a united football family, including the technical bench.
“Coaches, I also wish to encourage you that I think it’s a new era, let us forget about any problems we might have now, whether those problems are arising from the past regime, I think it is our responsibility not to start blaming the past leadership,” he said.
Mweemba expressed confidence in the team’s future and shared that the Republican President, Hakainde Hichilema, is also following their journey closely.
“So I am looking forward to meeting you. Make us proud. The patron of FAZ, the Republican President, is eagerly waiting for you as well. I had a chat with him during the Absa Cup final (on Saturday) and we discussed a number of issues, so some of them you will hear in person. Just make us proud, win the trophy and then good things will follow. All the best.”
In response, Copper Princesses coach Carol Kanyemba extended appreciation on behalf of the entire technical team.
“First and foremost, we would like to congratulate you on behalf of the technical bench for the appointment as FAZ president, we are so happy with the appointment,” Kanyemba said.
“We have known you from way back, so we believe that you are going to do it for us and we as technical bench, we promise also to do it for you.
