Kanyemba Makes History with Second COSAFA U-17 Title

Zambia Under-17 Women’s National Team head coach Carol Kanyemba has etched her name into the history books of COSAFA football, becoming the first coach to ever win the Under-17 Girls Championship on two separate occasions.

Her latest triumph in the 2025 edition adds to her previous successes in 2024, solidifying her remarkable record in the regional youth competition.

She as was an assistant coach to Kaluba Kangwa’s technical bench that won the 2021 championship by beating Botswana 4-0.

Kanyemba’s consistent success with the junior Copper Queens speaks volumes about her coaching prowess, her ability to nurture young talent, and her tactical acumen in navigating the challenges of international youth football.

Leading the team to two consecutive victories is an unprecedented achievement and a testament to her dedication and the hard work of her players and coaching staff.

Overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude, Kanyemba took to her Facebook page to express her feelings. In a heartfelt post, she wrote:

“I can never find the right Words to show my gratitude to you Lord for your Grace and Favor upon my life…You have done it again and again for me. Thank you so so much. Bola na Lesa always,” she posted.

Zambia is the most successful team in the Under-17 Girls’ Championship with three titles.
