Kalusha Bwalya Rallies Chipolopolo Ahead of Morocco Clash

Former Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president and 1988 African Footballer of the Year Kalusha Bwalya has urged the Chipolopolo to rise to the occasion when they face Morocco in their crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Monday.

Bwalya, who is also vice chairperson of the FAZ Technical Committee, visited the Chipolopolo camp in Ndola where he interacted with players and technical staff, offering words of encouragement ahead of the high-stakes fixture.

“I would like to thank president Keith Mweemba for inviting me to be at the Levy Mwanawasa. The boys look good and motivated; I shared one or two words with them,” Bwalya told journalists after the visit.

The Zambian football legend stressed the importance of the game, describing Morocco as the benchmark for Chipolopolo’s ambitions.
“Like every Zambian fan I am looking forward to the game tomorrow. If we aspire to get to a good level, tomorrow we have a good chance, we have the ingredients, we have the players we need, we have to beat Morocco. We will use Morocco as the team to beat,” he said.

Bwalya’s visit came after FAZ president Keith Mweemba extended an invitation to all former FAZ presidents to attend the much-anticipated fixture. Other Zambian greats serving on the FAZ Technical Committee include Kenneth Malitoli, Patrick Phiri, and Daniel Kabwe.

Chipolopolo will be banking on both the experience of their legends and the energy of the current squad as they aim to deliver a result that could boost their qualification hopes and lift the nation’s spirits.
