Isak joins Liverpool in record transfer

Liverpool have completed the signing of striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United for a British record fee of £125m, with the deal potentially rising to £130m with add-ons, according to BBC Sports.

The 25-year-old Sweden international underwent a medical on Monday before putting pen to paper on a six-year contract. Liverpool had an earlier £110m bid rejected in August but eventually secured their top target on transfer deadline day, confirming the move at 21:30 BST, more than two hours after the window closed.

Newcastle had already reinforced their attack with the arrivals of Germany striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart and Yoane Wissa from Brentford for £50m.

Meanwhile, Liverpool failed in their late pursuit of England defender Marc Guehi, despite the Crystal Palace centre-back undergoing a medical. The deal collapsed after Palace were unable to sign a replacement.
