Green Eagles Appoint Perry Mutapa as New Head Coach

Green Eagles Football Club has officially unveiled Perry Mutapa as the club’s new Head Coach, in a bid to reignite their competitive edge in the MTN Super League next season.
Mutapa takes over from Kebby Hachipuka, who has been redeployed by the Zambia National Service.
Mutapa arrives with a stellar coaching résumé and a wealth of experience, both as a player and a tactician. He is widely celebrated for guiding NAPSA Stars to a triumphant ABSA Cup victory in 2022, a campaign that saw him named Coach of the Tournament. He has previously coached Forest Rangers, Power Dynamos, and Lusaka Dynamos, where he earned a reputation for building disciplined, tactically astute teams.
A former professional footballer himself, Mutapa brings a deep understanding of the game, having featured for Orlando Pirates in South Africa and represented Zambia at both U-20 and senior national team levels. His international exposure and football IQ are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping Green Eagles’ new tactical direction.
In a statement, the Green Eagles Executive Committee expressed full confidence in their new head coach, describing him as a “proven winner” and the right fit to drive the club forward.
“Coach Perry Mutapa is a proven winner who brings both the tactical know-how and the motivational power to inspire success,” the club stated. “His experience as a player and coach at the highest level is exactly what Green Eagles needs as we aim to reclaim our position among the country’s elite and pursue continental football once again.”
Mutapa takes the reins at a crucial point for Green Eagles, with the club focused on rebuilding momentum and striving for consistent performances in the MTN Super League. His immediate goals include strengthening team cohesion, enhancing the club’s tactical identity, and restoring Green Eagles’ status as a top-flight contender.
