Former Lusaka Dynamos midfielder Shines on Saudi Debut with Two Assists for Hetten FC

Namibian forward Awillo Stephanus enjoyed a dream start to life in Saudi Arabia, marking his league debut with two assists in Hetten FC’s 2–0 victory over Arar FC in the Saudi Arabian Second Division on Saturday.
The former Lusaka Dynamos and African Stars attacker, who joined Hetten last month, played a pivotal role in his side’s triumph, quickly establishing himself as a key figure in the team’s attack. His creative influence and composure on the ball highlighted why the club was eager to secure his signature.
Speaking to The Namibian, Stephanus reflected on his bright start and the process of adapting to football in the Middle East.
“I can’t really say much about the first game because some teams might still be looking for that perfect combination,” he said. “But we had a proper pre-season in Egypt that helped us a lot. Honestly, I would say I’ve adapted quite well ever since arriving here in Saudi. I’ve started almost every match since I came, and that’s helping me a lot confidence-wise.”
Known for his creativity and attacking flair, the 34-year-old has already shown glimpses of becoming an integral part of Hetten FC’s offensive setup. His prior stints in Thailand and Finland have also equipped him with the experience to adapt to new football cultures and overcome language barriers.

“It hasn’t been entirely easy, but it’s nothing new to me,” Stephanus said. “The main thing is to keep improving every game. We’re working hard to stay consistent, and personally, I just want to contribute as much as I can with assists, goals, and hard work.”
Hetten’s encouraging start to the season reflects the team’s solid pre-season preparation, with Stephanus already emerging as one of the side’s standout performers.
