Edward Chilufya Pens New Long-Term Deal with FC Midtjylland

Zambian international Edward Chilufya has committed his future to Danish side FC Midtjylland, signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until December 31, 2028.

Chilufya, affectionately known as “Chili,” has become a key figure at Midtjylland since joining in the winter of 2022. The 25-year-old winger is closing in on his 100th appearance for the club, having already featured 91 times, scored 12 goals, and helped the team to both the 3F Superliga and the Oddset Cup titles.

FC Midtjylland’s sports director, Kristian Bach Bak, praised Chilufya’s growth and potential:

“Chili has some qualities that are hard to find. He has speed, breakthrough power and an ability to decide matches on his own. He has had periods of adversity, but we have always believed in his potential. The new agreement is both a recognition of the work he has put in, and a belief that he can take even more steps in the coming time.”

Chilufya has been in strong form during the 2024/25 season, scoring six goals and providing six assists in just 1,110 minutes of play – averaging a goal involvement every 92 minutes.

Reacting to the contract extension, Chilufya expressed his satisfaction and hunger for more:

“It feels good. I’ve been here for a while now and I really like it. The club’s style of play suits me well and I believe I can do much better in the years to come.”

He added that despite the intense competition in the squad, his focus remains on consistency and contributing when called upon:

“Sometimes confidence is high, sometimes it’s low… but for me it’s about continuing and continuing to fight for the team. The most important thing is to do my part when I’m needed, and then I believe that success will come.”

Looking ahead, Chilufya has his sights set on more silverware and a future move to one of Europe’s top five leagues.

“I want to continue winning titles here in the Central Denmark Region, and at some point in my career I dream of getting to a top 5 league.”

With his new deal secured, Midtjylland fans will be hoping to see the best of Edward Chilufya as he enters the next chapter of his European journey.
