Copper Eagles Soar Past Botswana Vultures with 26-7 Victory in Gaborone

The Zambia Copper Eagles secured an emphatic 26-7 win over the Botswana Vultures in Gaborone on Thursday evening, marking a triumphant start to their international invitational campaign.
The Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU) confirmed the result in a Facebook post, praising the team’s determination:
“Congratulations, boys! Hard-fought battle in Gabs. Proud of the effort and heart!”
The victory came just days after Head Coach Lawrence Njovu finalized his 25-man squad to travel to Botswana, following weeks of intensive training camps, fitness assessments, and tactical drills.
Coach Njovu had expressed confidence in his squad prior to departure: “The boys have shown tremendous commitment during our preparation phase. Every player in this squad has earned their place through hard work and consistency. We’re not just going to Botswana to compete – we’re going to win, to learn, and to raise the Zambian flag high.”
The Copper Eagles will remain in Botswana for a second clash against the Vultures on Sunday, as the invitational series continues.
With this opening victory, the Zambian side has not only showcased its skill and resilience but also sent a strong message about the nation’s growing presence on the regional rugby scene.
