Chipata City Council FC Fail to Fulfil Trident Fixture

Chipata City Council Football Club has issued an apology to its supporters following its failure to honour a scheduled ZPL National League fixture against Trident FC in Kalumbila, North-Western Province. The Week 5 clash, which was to be played yesterday, failed to take place after the team could not travel due to financial and logistical constraints.

In a press release issued by the club’s management today, Sunday, the council-owned outfit described the development as an unfortunate setback and assured fans that measures have been put in place to prevent a repeat of such a scenario.

“This occurrence was never in our plans, and we deeply regret the disappointment it may have caused to our fans,” the statement read. “Moving forward, the Club has put in place measures to ensure that such an incident does not occur again. We remain committed to upholding professionalism, discipline, and dedication both on and off the pitch.”

The club further thanked its loyal supporters for their unwavering backing, pledging to continue representing Eastern Province with pride despite the challenges.

Earlier, Chipata City Council Public Relations Officer Eddy Ngoma confirmed to Breeze FM that the team could not make the trip to Kalumbila due to financial limitations.

He appealed to stakeholders, including banks and members of the business community, to help sustain the club through financial support.

“We call on various stakeholders to step in and inject funds into the team to help sustain it,” Ngoma said.

While dismissing suggestions that unpaid salaries were to blame, Ngoma admitted that logistical issues had made it impossible to send the squad for the crucial away fixture.
