Chilufya Shines with Assist as Midtjylland Qualify for Europa League

Zambian international Edward “Tiger” Chilufya delivered a standout performance on Thursday night, playing the full 90 minutes and providing an assist as FC Midtjylland sealed a 2-0 win over Finnish side KuPS in the UEFA Europa League Playoffs.

The Danish club advanced with a commanding 6-0 aggregate victory, booking their place in the UEFA Europa League group stage for the fourth time in five seasons. Chilufya was instrumental in the win, setting up the second goal and showcasing his pace and creativity on the wing.

The performance comes just days after the 24-year-old was named in Zambia’s squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifier against Morocco on September 8 in Ndola. Chilufya has been in fine form for both club and country, he was the last player to score for the Chipolopolo in their 2–1 loss to Morocco on June 7, 2024.

With his recent display, many Zambian fans are hopeful that national team coach Avram Grant will utilize Chilufya more effectively, avoiding past mistakes of introducing him too late in matches. His sharpness and consistency at club level suggest he could be a key weapon for Zambia in the crucial qualifiers ahead.

Chilufya’s resurgence not only strengthens Midtjylland’s European campaign but also raises expectations for his impact on the international stage.
