Charles Zulu: “We Want It More” – Chipolopolo Winger Confident Ahead of COSAFA Cup Clash

Zambia winger Charles Zulu has shared the positive atmosphere in the Chipolopolo camp ahead of Friday’s COSAFA Cup clash against Comoros, expressing the team’s determination to go all the way and lift the regional trophy.

Speaking to FAZ Media from the team base in Bloemfontein, Zulu said morale among the players is high, and the squad is fully focused on delivering a strong performance in their tournament opener.

“The feeling in camp is quite okay. Everyone is happy and ready for the game tomorrow,” said Zulu. “The target is to win COSAFA. We have to win it at all cost. We’re not under pressure, but we want it more.”

Zulu emphasized that for many players in the squad, this tournament presents a special opportunity to win silverware with the national team.

“There are players in camp who have never won the COSAFA Cup before – they all want to win it. Everyone wants to win it,” he added.

While acknowledging the quality of their opponents, Zulu stressed that the COSAFA Cup serves as crucial preparation for bigger competitions ahead, including the African Nations Championship (CHAN) and the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

“Both teams are good. For us, COSAFA is preparation for the CHAN tournament and even the Africa Cup. It’s very important to prepare well,” he said.

The speedy winger also sent a message to the fans, urging them to rally behind the team.

“All I can say is that they have to give us support, they have to believe in us – and we’ll do the rest,” he concluded.

Zambia faces Comoros on Friday at 18:00 CAT in their opening match of the 2024 COSAFA Cup, with fans across the country eager to see Chipolopolo make a strong statement in the regional tournament.
