Andrew Phiri Confident Ahead of Botswana Clash After Intense Recovery Session

Zambia’s national football team held a recovery session at Freestate University earlier today as they refocus their efforts ahead of their upcoming clash against Botswana. The team is aiming to bounce back after a disappointing result in their last outing, where a lapse in concentration led to a goal conceded from a set piece.
Chipolopolo’s Andrew Phiri remains optimistic about Zambia’s chances of advancing to the knockout stages following an intense recovery session today at Freestate University. The session comes just a day after Zambia’s goalless draw in their latest group match.
Speaking after the session, Phiri acknowledged the physical demands of yesterday’s fixture but assured fans that the team is bouncing back well.
“We had a very, very intense game and today we just had to recover,” he said. “I can say the recovery process is going on well.”
Reflecting on the game, Phiri expressed disappointment at missed opportunities but praised the team’s overall performance.
“I think we played very well and created a bit of chances, but sadly we couldn’t find the back of the net,” he noted.
Zambia faces Botswana in their final group match, a must-win encounter if Chipolopolo is to keep its knockout hopes alive.
“It’s just to win Bana’s game, because we don’t have any option,” Phiri stated. “We have to fight, go into the game, give our 100%, and win the remaining game.”
Despite the pressure, he is confident in the squad’s ability to deliver when it matters most.
“Yes, we still believe. Looking at the caliber of players that we have, I think we are players that can deliver. We just have to show it on the pitch.”
To the fans back home, Phiri had a simple but heartfelt message:
“Keep supporting us. We’ll keep fighting on the pitch and give 100% in the game against Botswana.”
Zambia will take on Botswana on June 11 in what promises to be a high-stakes showdown, with qualification to the knockout stages hanging in the balance.
